James Atwell
Jim has more than 40 years experience in the field of environmental engineering and currently serves as project manager for Sevee and Maher Engineers which provides landfill, groundwater, hazardous waste and environmental engineering services to public and private sector clients throughout the United States. Jim’s experience has been primarily related to solid waste management and the remediation of hazardous waste sites. This experience includes project director, project manager, and project engineer assignments on a variety of large, complex, multi-task solid and hazardous waste management projects involving RI/FS and Remedial Design and Cleanup Superfund and RCRA Corrective Action sites. For the past twenty years Jim has been a leader in the environmental business community in Maine. He is past Chair of the Board of Directors of the Maine State Chamber of Commerce and is currently the Co-Chair of the Environmental and Energy Technology Council of Maine, an environmental and energy trade association. Following the November 2010 election, Mr. Atwell was asked to assist the Governor’s Transition Team in the interviewing and selection of the new Commissioner for the Maine Department of Environmental Protection.
