Consumers, technology, and climate change are driving transformation in the energy industry. States are seeking to reduce carbon emissions from power generation; support increased electrification of the building and transportation sectors; and provide for more customer energy options. In this changing environment, policymakers and regulators across the U.S. are considering how the role of electric utilities will evolve. Key questions include:

  • What changes to the utility model and the grid will be required to support carbon emissions reductions, increased electrification, and distributed energy resources?
  • How is regulation changing to support policy and the changing role?
  • What business models and regulations are being considered in other states to support this change?

Many states have begun taking steps to answer these questions. E2Tech and The Nature Conservancy are bringing together utilities, regulators, consumer advocates, and policy experts from across the region to discuss energy transformation and the role of electric utilities, regulators, and stakeholders in this change.

Speakers Include:

  • Abigail Anthony - Commissioner, Rhode Island Public Utilities Commission
  • Laney Brown - Vice President, E-Retail Solutions, AVANGRID (Moderator)
  • Fouad Dagher, P.E. - Director, Customer Innovation & Manager, New Products and Services, National Grid
  • Rolf Nordstrom - President & CEO, Great Plains Institute
  • Chris Rauscher - Director, Policy & Storage Market Strategy, Sunrun
