The US DOT has awarded $27M to improve Route 1 from Madawaska to Fort Kent and funds for upgrading roadway shoulders to improve bicyclist safety. A separate $27.5M award went to Amtrack for upgrades the track between Brunswick and Massachusetts.

The UMaine Portland Gateway has launched the Early Years and Sustainable Development Research Initiative headed by Adrian Cerezo. The initiative will offer a global hub for scholarship and transdisciplinary research. 

The Lincolnville-Islesboro Ferry Terminal has been awarded $7.1M for upgrades from the Federal Ferry Service for Rural Communities Grant program. Upgrades include infrastructure for a new plug-in hybrid ferry.

Register for the Roux Institute's Start Summit on Decarbonizing the Built Environment. Fri Jan. 26th will be in Portland and Sat Jan. 27th in Brunswick.
