About E2Tech

 

E2Tech is Maine’s leading membership-based organization connecting people, businesses, institutions, and policymakers in the energy, environment, and clean technology sectors. We provide a nonpartisan forum for information sharing, networking, and collaboration. Through events, partnerships, and communications, E2Tech helps its members stay informed, build relationships, and advance practical solutions for Maine’s energy and environmental future.

Our members include businesses, nonprofits, universities, research institutions, utilities, and government agencies. E2Tech serves as a bridge across these groups, supporting innovation, visibility, and collaboration throughout the state.

 

The Opportunity

 

The Executive Director is the chief executive, fundraiser, and public spokesperson for E2Tech. Working closely with an engaged volunteer Board of Directors, the Executive Director will:

 

  • Lead E2Tech as a convener and connector of Maine’s energy and environmental community.

  • Strengthen E2Tech’s reputation as a trusted, nonpartisan source of information and dialogue.

  • Build lasting partnerships and ensure E2Tech’s long-term sustainability.

  • Champion Maine’s clean energy and environmental sectors, highlighting their contributions statewide and beyond.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Leadership & Management

 

  • Provide strategic leadership for E2Tech, overseeing staff, programs, and operations. Current staff consists of one full-time program/operations manager, as well as temporary college and graduate interns.

  • Partner with the Board on governance, strategic planning, and financial oversight.

  • Serve as the primary contact for members, partners, policymakers, and other stakeholders.

  • Represent E2Tech as a statewide leader and credible voice in energy and environment. Champion the Maine energy, environmental and clean technology cluster as a visible spokesperson, bringing in additional resources and connections. 

 

Programs & Membership

 

  • Oversee high-quality events, forums, and communications that deliver value to members.

  • Execute E2Tech’s 2025 Strategic Plan, working with E2Tech’s Strategic Planning Committee to develop short- and long-term development goals and strategies.

  • Recruit and retain members, with a focus on strengthening the Sustaining Partner program.

  • Ensure programming reflects diverse perspectives and addresses issues of broad interest to Maine’s energy and environmental community.

 

Fundraising & External Relations

 

  • Lead fundraising strategy and execution, with strong Board support.

  • Cultivate and steward relationships with foundations, corporations, and public agencies.

  • Secure sponsorships, grants, and sustaining memberships aligned with E2Tech’s mission.

  • Represent E2Tech at partner events, industry gatherings, and in the media.

 

Qualifications

 

We seek a proven leader who is collaborative, entrepreneurial, and committed to E2Tech’s mission. Candidates should bring:

  • A passion for catalyzing energy, environmental, and cleantech businesses.

  • 10+ years of leadership experience in nonprofit, business, or public sector roles.

  • Demonstrated success in fundraising, membership development, or partnership cultivation.

  • Strong skills in strategic planning, communications, and organizational management.

  • Experience engaging with policymakers, business leaders, and community stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of or passion for the energy, environment, or clean technology sectors.

  • Commitment to building a long-term future with E2Tech and Maine’s energy community.

  • Willingness and ability to travel within Maine for meetings and events.

 

Compensation & Benefits

 

This is a full-time position with competitive salary and benefits commensurate with experience. Starting salary range is $80,000 to $100,000 depending on education and experience, with opportunities for performance-based increases.

Work Environment: This is a hybrid position based in Maine, with a mix of remote work, in-office time, and in-person meetings or events around the state as needed. Some evening and occasional weekend commitments are required.
