Japhet Els
Cleantech Intern
Japhet Els is a current Masters of Public Policy and Management candidate at the Muskie School in his final full semester of studies. As an OLLI Fellow he continues to support the research of Dr. Carolyn Arcand, examining how Maine municipal leaders are engaging their local residents through accessibility measures and consistent communications. He recently completed a Public Leadership Credential from the Kennedy School to complement his USM studies. Professionally, he left his role as Communications Director for The Center for Tech and Civic Life to take a career pause from supporting local election officials' efforts to make our elections more secure, accessible, and trusted. He traded the concrete and hype of Portland for the starry nights and deep woods of rural Maine in 2021 currently living in Woolwich just outside of Bath. When he's not writing and reading for school(s), Japhet delivers fresh baked Italian pastries and breads along the Midcoast of Maine for Solo Pane, (arguably) the best Italian bakery in Maine.
