Massachusetts-based Form Energy plans on building the iron-air energy storage facility in Lincoln with a $147 million federal grant. It will be built at the site of the old Lincoln pulp mill which has been vacant since the mill closed in 2015. If all goes according to plan, construction is scheduled to begin in 2027.
A plan to turn Maine into a hub for the launching of commercial nanosatellites is progressing. Last month, bluShift secured $2.3 million to accelerate the development of small satellite launches using its fuel, with the goal of scaling operations for commercial suborbital launch in 2025. The firm is part of a small but growing cluster of firms active in the aerospace sector, and bluShift has ties to E2TEch because such satellites have many applications for environmental monitoring.
